Food Service Director Higher Education

Description

Reporting to the District Manager, the Food Service Director will oversee the daily foodservice. The Food Service Director will be responsible for the profitable management of these services under contract with the Client. Responsibilities include interaction with the client, customers and employees. The Food Service Director will provide vision to growing the business.

  • Ensure all operating standards are achieved
  • Grow Catering business through Marketing initiatives
  • Establish and maintain procedures for purchasing, receiving, storage, preparation and service of food
  • Coordinate and supervise personnel regarding production, merchandising, quality and cost control, labour, scheduling, staffing and training
  • Assist front line managers with any operational and staffing issues
  • Train, develop and mentor the management team and establish succession plans
  • Ensure that standards for sanitation and food safety are met
  • Assist in menu planning
  • Prepare business plans, budgets and forecasts
  • Monitor financial operating results in order to achieve company and client objectives
  • Develop new initiatives and programs to improve sales and customer satisfaction
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for all business sectors
  • Maintain records to comply with Aramark, and government standards
  • Ensure compliance with Marketing and Human Resources Programs
  • Ensure adherence to Aramark’s policies and procedures
  • Ensure adherence to Aramark’s Health and Safety Programs
Qualifications
  • University degree / diploma in Hospitality or related field is preferred
  • 7 plus years food service management experience to include strong financial acumen as supported by a minimum of 5 years of successful P&L management experience within a professional environment. Management experience within a higher education sector would be an asset.
  • Demonstrate experience with successfully managing salaried and hourly individuals and soft skills necessary to coach, mentor and drive programs and develop careers.
  • Effective communication (listening, verbal and written) skills with clients, customers of client and support staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand food cost and the usage of food.
  • Demonstrated attention to the achievement of high quality standards coupled with a proven track record in identifying defects in the preparation and service of food and the implementation of improved quality control procedures.
  • Requires management and leadership skills and the ability to work with confidential employee, client and Aramark information.
  • Demonstrated ability to responding effectively and efficiently to changing client demands.
  • Strong computer skills, being able to navigate through systems
