Manager, Corporate Relations - Student Life

Position Purpose

The Manager, Corporate Relations, will provide strategic leadership to create new, long-term, multi-level corporate relationships in support of the University of Ottawa. These relationships are complex with a multi-faceted approach to fundraising including corporate giving, employee engagement, research partnerships and sponsorships. By ensuring a University-wide coordination effort, the Manager can guide and encourage a collaborative approach to corporate relations to optimize their level of engagement with the University.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor degree in business, management or a related discipline, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience
Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) or other specialized certification/designation
Knowledge of fundraising processes, best practices and current industry trends
Seasoned individual with minimum 10 years’ experience in professional fundraising, corporate relations and business development
Experience in strategic planning for fundraising and major gift solicitation; proven ability to secure large contributions from corporations
Excellent leadership skills; ability to work with and command the respect of faculty, senior leadership, executive Board members, and other high level stakeholders
Ability to work collaboratively with different groups of people and building productive professional relationships
A disciplined self-starter who sets ambitious work goals, with a demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively when developing partnership opportunities
Demonstrated ability to write and produce complex reports including funding proposals, strategic plans and thorough analysis in order to influence decisions at the senior level
Superior communication skills required to engage internal units and staff as well as external partners
Proven negotiation, organizational, interpersonal and networking skills
Well-developed critical thinking
Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills in both official languages (French and English)
Experience using software and computer programs as well as fundraising databases; knowledge of Raiser’s Edge software an asset
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, and travel on occasion on business.

Contract of approximately 12 months, with possibility of renewal. Eligibility to benefits will be determined upon hiring. This position is excluded from all union accreditation units.
